![]() Chuck Palmer, Seventh Grade Homeroom, Science & Technology Chuck Palmer received his Bachelor's Degree in Entomology from The Ohio State University, has completed extensive computer science coursework at UNCA and is working towards a Master of Education at Western Carolina University. He spent 16 years with the North Carolina State University Department of Entomology at the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research and Extension Center in Fletcher as a field biologist where he studied commercial fruit and vegetable arthropod management before becoming an educator. After several successful years teaching Middle School Science in Henderson County, Mr Palmer returned home to TMCS this year to teach 6-8 Science and Technology. He has spent many years working with children in our area outside the classroom as founder of the Henderson County Scholastic Chess program and as a founding board member of The Mountain Community School. He has also served as a judge for the Western Regional Odyssey of the Mind Tournament. Mr Palmer will be sponsoring Chess Club (every thursday from 3-4:30), Quiz Bowl, Science Olympiad and Odyssey of the Mind this year. He loves spending time with his family, music, chess, natural history and public issues (especially education and politics). |
