Kristie Pace: Third Grade Teacher “Once upon a time, in a land far, far away” there was a little girl who sat on a student’s lap in her daddy’s class and watched magic being created. She heard the laughter of students as her dad not only taught but made that learning fun. In that very moment, that little girl realized that her daddy had a really special job and that she wanted to spend her life being a part of that kind of magic. I am looking forward to making learning a magical experience for my students at TMCS. I believe that learning should be hands-on, and fun for me and my students. My father spent five years at TMCS. I asked him why he thought it was so special. He told me that TMCS was a community dedicated to doing what is right for children. He emphasized that everyone from the administration to the very special volunteers had one goal “Do what is best for the child.” He emphasized that TMCS parents don’t drop off kids to be “cared for”. “They entrust their hearts to be nurtured and their children’s minds to be stimulated.” He explained that parents make TMCS special because they involve themselves and I so look forward to that parental participation. I am very excited! We will journey down the Appalachian Trail, through both reading and math. We will also be experiencing technology by creating podcasts, using web quests, as well as keeping up our class website. I am a native of Henderson County, and have been teaching six years. The Pace family lives on a horse farm where we enjoy riding, walking, and the storytelling of my dad, the famous “Coach Corn.” My husband and I have two children, Hannah, 5 and Gabriel 4. My husband works as a Paramedic for Henderson County EMS. |
