Debbie Jackson: Fourth Grade Teacher
Hi! My name is Debbie Jackson and I am the 4th Grade teacher at T.M.C.S. In addition to teaching the 4th grade, I also teach the 3rd grade Language Arts class. I was born and raised in Henderson County and educated in both North and South Carolina. A very professional and caring staff, strong parental involvement, community outreach, and smaller classroom size are the ingredients that have been combined to make our school thrive. The 4th grade curriculum is very rich in study with a strong emphasis on writing, math, and reading. History and Science combine research and hands on projects and activities that enhance our studies. The Core Knowledge program allows me to explore many innovative approaches to teaching all subjects. My passion is to develop creative ways in which to approach difficult concepts. Music is one of the tools I utilize to make learning "come alive."
As an outreach to my students, I offer writing workshops on Saturday mornings during the months of January, February, and March. In addition, many of my students have opted to sign up for piano and guitar lessons which I teach during the week after school.
I strongly believe that each and everyone of my students have various gifts and talents that they bring with them into the classroom, and I love to discover these and combine them with our curriculum so that we may explore every opportunity for their success.
