Amanda Cumbo: Second Grade

I believe that teachers should produce an environment, which is positive, engaging, inclusive, inviting, and respectful.  I strongly believe that students should function as a team in which everyone supports one another and is respectful of one another’s individuality and diversity.  I believe that the teacher can support this idea by modeling respectful behavior towards his or her students.  I also believe that a teacher can create an environment, which is inviting and engaging by making the classroom a place that is a magical world of discovery.  This can be accomplished through organization and creative planning.
I believe that through compassionate, knowledgeable and nurturing leadership a teacher can produce a student who learns to love to learn.  By defining my purpose as a teacher, it has prepared me to enter into the classroom with the knowledge I need to be a compassionate and nurturing teacher.
